Perrotis College offers B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in the fields of Sustainable Agriculture and Management, Business Studies, Food Science & Technology and Environmental Science. The approach of the College is strongly interdisciplinary, while its pedagogical methodology is both research oriented and practical, giving students the opportunity to engage in learning-by-doing projects.  Perrotis College is accredited by the New England Council of Higher Education (US) and its programs are also validated by Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK).

 

The Department of Food Science and Technology at Perrotis College invites applications for a full time faculty position, with a solid academic and professional background in Food Science, demonstrated expertise in research, and relevant applied field experience.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in Food Science & Technology
  • Contribute to the development of innovative teaching and learning methods
  • Conduct research activities and supervise undergraduate and graduate student research
  • Develop and maintain a strong, independent research program with publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Secure external research funding (national & international)
  • Participate in departmental, faculty, and university service; collaborate with the food industry, government bodies, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, departmental administration, and service to the institution.

Required Qualifications

 

  • PhD degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field
  • Evidence of effective teaching ability in English and interest in pedagogy
  • Demonstrated excellence in research (publications, grants) and, for higher ranks, leadership in the field
  • Advanced scientific background and professional experience in Food Science and Technology
  • Proven ability to design and conduct food-related experiments
  • Capacity to advise and collaborate with a diverse group of food related professionals
  • Good command of English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and engage in interdisciplinary work

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in Food Processing and Engineering
  • Documented industrial experience in the food sector
  • Academic or professional experience in the United States
  • Familiarity with the US and/or UK higher education systems

  • Participate in curriculum development, assessment, departmental administration, and service to the institution.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in Precision Agriculture, Crop Production or related agronomy fields
  • Scientific background and experience in Precision Agriculture and Field Crop Production
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting field and greenhouse experiments
  • Ability to advise and work with farmers on best practices in sustainable crop management
  • Broader experience in sustainable crop systems and regenerative agriculture
  • Evidence of effective teaching ability in English and interest in pedagogy
  • Demonstrated excellence in research (publications, grants) and, for higher ranks, leadership in the field
  • Good command of English (spoken and written)
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and engage in interdisciplinary work

  • Experience in fruit tree and olive production
  • Experience in greenhouse crop management
  • Academic or professional experience in the United States
  • Familiarity with the US and/or UK higher education systems
